Non-oxidative intercalation and exfoliation of graphite by Brønsted acids.
Graphite intercalation compounds are formed by inserting guest molecules or ions between sp(2)-bonded carbon layers. These compounds are interesting as synthetic metals and as precursors to graphene. For many decades it has been thought that graphite intercalation must involve host-guest charge transfer, resulting in partial oxidation, reduction or covalent modification of the graphene sheets. ...
متن کاملSurfactant-free exfoliation of graphite in aqueous solutions.
We report an ultrasound exfoliation of graphite in a weakly basic solution to produce multi-layer graphene dispersion. A unique feature of this process is that no surfactant was added to stabilize the exfoliated graphene in water. The concentration of the graphene dispersion prepared by this approach can be up to 0.02 mg mL(-1) and it was stable at room temperature for several months.
متن کاملScalable production of graphene with tunable and stable doping by electrochemical intercalation and exfoliation.
Graphene's unique semimetallic band structure yields carriers with widely tunable energy levels that enable novel electronic devices and energy generators. To enhance the potential of this feature, a scalable synthesis method for graphene with adjustable Fermi levels is required. We here show that the electrochemical intercalation of FeCl3 and subsequent electrochemical exfoliation produces gra...

متن کاملAqueous only route toward graphene from graphite oxide.
We report a new, simple, hydrazine-free, high-yield method for producing single-layer graphene sheets. Graphene sheets were formed from graphite oxide by reduction with simple deionized water at 95 °C under atmospheric pressure. Over 65% of the sheets are single graphene layers; the average sheet diameter is 300 nm. We speculate that dehydration of graphene oxide is the main mechanism for oxyge...
